Back to School Social

Well last night we went to the Back to School Social to meet Piper's teacher. It was fun to see a lot of our neighbors and some of the kids I tutor. They had pizza and TCBY yogurt so Piper thought it was great! I joined the PTSA and I am ready to jump right in. I should be running that school within two years-lol.

Piper's teacher is Miss Baker. She is fresh out of college so she is so enthusiastic. I think she will have a good year. The only problem is our school is piloting a new tuition-based all day Kindergarten program. So you can pay $2800 for the year and have your child in all day K. Not something we are interested in, but since they just came up with the idea that class will start on Sept. 10th and it will be made up of kids from the already existing K classes and picked by lottery (only if you sign up for it). So... if there are too many kids chosen from a particular class they will have to switch some kids to balance the classes again. I really hope that doesn't happen to Piper. She doesn't embrace change well so I think I will be making my presence known if that were to happen.

Piper left that night and her face was just beaming and she said she was so excited to start. She found a lucky penny in the cafeteria and she said she is going to put it in her backpack and keep it there for the whole school year (which she did as soon as she got home). She is also very excited that there is a bathroom in her classroom. She thought that was pretty cool.

Although I am sad that she is growing up and not my baby anymore, it is so much fun seeing her just glow whenever she reads one of her books or talks about school. She is so ready and I need to be excited for her and this next new adventure in her life. And really after experiencing the tragedy that my family has recently gone through I have seen first hand that no matter how old you are you still need your mom sometimes so I'm not losing my baby, our relationship is just evolving as it will for the rest of our lives.

For Your Enjoyment...

Well since I have been away for so long I thought I would provide you some entertainment at my expense.

I was shopping at Fred Meyer today and being the good little crunchy tree hugger I am, brought my own bags to use. Now occasionally I will use these bags for other things. I think I most recently used them to go swimming at the girls' swimming lessons. I usually look for one of my favorite checkers, but none of my usuals were there so I went in this young man's line. He was maybe 20 years old. Do you see where any of this is going yet?

He bags up a few of my reusable bags and he then opens my Trader Joe's canvas bag (my favorite) and what does he reach in and pull out? A pair of my underwear!!! They were clean thank goodness and still folded up, but the young kid was still holding up my very not so cute and pretty panties. He looked at me and I said "Oh My! Here I'll take those." He then proceeds to throw them at me like they were on fire. I tucked them in my purse and he just kept laughing.

Why were my underwear in the bag you ask? Trust me I was asking myself that for about an hour until I finally figured it out. I was planning on swimming at the girls' swimming lessons the last class so I wore my bathing suit under me clothes and brought a bra and undies to change into. When I got there and saw all of the skinny bitches in their bathing suit and my fellow chubbette mom not in hers, I chickened out. Well I put on my bra, but just kept my bathing suit bottoms on (hell yeah I'm rocking the bikini!- okay, don't think string bikini, think more very long topped tankini) thus leaving the underwear unused. I must have emptied out the bag and forgot about them in there until today.

I'm thinking this may replace me farting really loudly in church (with the love of my life at the time Aaron Lossness sitting directly behind me) while my six grade class was rehearsing our readings for the next day's mass as my most embarrassing moment. Well at least I accomplished something today, right?

I've Been Simpsonized

My friend Brenda did this on her blog and it looked like fun so I thought I would jump on the bandwagon. You can go to http://simpsonizeme.com/# and they will Simpsonize you. Here is what I would look like in the town of Springfield...

What was she thinking?????

Today I watched my neighbor's kids. They were all great and got along and I got a lot of stuff done around the house. Afterwards I took the girls to swimming lessons and on the way home Paige says "I have a bead stuck up my nose." I had her repeat it a few times because I couldn't believe what she was telling me. I asked her when she stuck it up there and she said when they were all playing PS2. That was 4 hours prior! I had to run some errands so I bought some tweezers to see if I could get it out. I kept thinking, would I be a bad mother if I stopped at the post office before heading to the Dr.'s office if the tweezers didn't work? I really needed to go to the post office. Luckily I was able to get that damned glittery bead out.

The kicker was when I told her that she can't put things in her nose her response was, "Well Piper put mac and cheese up her nose." I said yes when she was a baby! I didn't realize four year olds still did things like that. I guess this was better than when Bob caught her trying to stick her drumstick in the one exposed outlet in our house the other day. This kid is going kill me if she doesn't kill herself first with her crazy curiosities and lack of grace.
