Paige's Sunflower

Last spring Paige came home from preschool with a little cup of dirt that she had planted. Her teacher Miss Vicki said it was a sunflower seed. We put it in the back yard where I was sure it would meet the fate of all other seeds from school- death. Bob took an interest in her little cup of dirt and he took Paige out there everyday and helped her water it. As it grew they transferred it into bigger containers until one day it was ready to go in the ground. He had Paige help him plant it and they watered it religiously and look at it now! It is well over 6 feet tall! I think they both were very proud. Next year Piper said she wants to grow one too. It's amazing how something as little as growing a flower can bring us such joy.

It's Official...She's a Kindergartener!!!

Today was Piper's first day of Kindergarten and it went very well! She was a bit nervous because she didn't think she was going to know anyone, but it turns out there are a ton of neighborhood girls all starting school as well.

I kept it together until she was on the bus and then I cried. I didn't want her to see me, but when we got home she said when she looked at me from inside the bus my face looked sad like I was going to cry. I told her I was crying because I was so happy for her and because she wasn't a baby anymore, but I was excited for the next stage in her life. As soon as the bus left Bob, Paige, and I high-tailed it over to the school to make sure she made it the twenty feet into her classroom. Then at the end of the day we also made sure she got on the right bus to go home. That was a little chaotic so I think I will be there lurking on the bushes for the rest of the week.

I had a very cute outfit picked out for her on the first day and she did too. Unfortunately, they weren't the same outfit, but I gave up control(a tough one for me) and let her wear what she wanted and I think she made a great choice.
